It says hikers TOPO maps. And that's what is in this book...and nothing else.Would I hike out of this book? NO, Probably not.
I bought it because it said 2014 and I thought "it's new", that, and the picture of "House on Fire" on the cover.
Read the look inside.....only place to find the map details.
It's 1:24,000 scale aka 7.5 x 7.5 quad maps. The pages are paper. There is just not enough detail in the maps for this area.
There are only a few, and I mean a few places to see marked. Take the misspelled Cigarette Springs Road...what's marked...Seven Kivas in a large black box covering the map, and that's it for the whole page...eh, plus the words "park" (dot) and Road Canyon (trail).
I've done a few hikes in Cedar Mesa and want to go back. I will bring a rope and harness this time because I could not complete my hike to The Citadel. I have a way too healthy a fear of heights that kept me from sliding around the ledge and cliff edge to finish the hike. But give me a rope on a rock and I can go right down the middle and be far away from the way too scary parts. My group probably searched for an hour looking for the most sane route we would try....and in the end, we turned around without completing the hike.
